Do Right - A devotion by Dr Bob Jones Sr
You are not to look at things toward which you are inclined
to go when those things are wrong.
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight
before thee.
Proverbs 4:25
God doesn’t object to our looking at beautiful things.
The universe is full of beauty in spite of all the sins that men
and fallen angels have committed and in spite of all the cataclysmic
judgments upon all creation. What is more beautiful
than a morning when God is opening the door of the day
on golden hinges? What is more beautiful than the picture
of God having the morning stand tiptoe on the horizon and
shoot sunbeams of light at the vanishing darkness of the
night? God didn’t say you must not look at the morning light.
There is nothing wrong with beauty. There is nothing wrong
with looking to the west when the sun turns the sky into fire
as it goes down behind the hills of evening. God gave men
eyes with which to see! You have a right to use them! But
you are not to look at things toward which you are inclined
to go when those things are wrong.
